Avila Beach
It’s Always Sunny in Avila Beach

As opposed to many of the surrounding beach communities on the central coast, Avila Beach is encased within a mountain – Point San Luis – which protects this hidden village from the fog and colder climates, leaving this as one of the most mild-temperatured locations on California’s central coast.
With a population of just under 800 residents, this is also one of the smallest beach communities in the area, giving it a more cozy, hometown feel. The town is just beginning to bloom, and many new developments have been added within the last few years, including upscale housing complexes and beach house-style suites.
Wine tasting is prevalent in Avila, with seven local tasting locations to choose from just within the town’s promenade.
It is secluded from the rest of San Luis Obispo county, about a mile and a half off of the US 101 freeway and enclosed on the San Luis Bay, making it less of an trap for tourists and more of a secret among locals.
Traveling along See Canyon Rd. from US 101 to Avila, you will encounter a curious entrance located across the street from Avila Hot Springs, which will lead you to perhaps the most quaint and cherished aspect of San Luis Obispo County – Avila Valley Barn. This unique location features an assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables grown directly on the premises, as well as tractor ride that carries passengers to the apple or pumpkin fields when in season.
