Lopez Lake in Arroyo Grande is the perfect spot for camping, fishing, or just spending some time with family

Lopez Lake is located 10 miles east of Arroyo Grande. Because it’s protected on all sides by mountains, Lopez is always warm and sunny, making it a perfect getaway without actually getting too far away. The lake offers many exciting things to do, such as:

Camping
Fishing/Boating
Hiking
Picnic areas/BBQ pits
Mustang Water Slides

Camping
Lopez lake has from over 350 campsites to choose from, ranging from primitive to electrical to full hook-up campgrounds. Many of the sites are overlooking the lake, and others are nestled deeper within the oaks that are home to Lopez. Reservations can be made up to a year in advance, which should be taken advantage of if one is looking for a prime site.

Fishing/Boating
Crappie, red-ear sunfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass are found frequenting the lake in warmer months while rainbow trout are found more often in the cooler months. Catfish over 25 pounds can be found year-round during dusk and dawn. A modern marina is open year-round, with a launch ramp, food store, tackle shop, and boat rentals.

Hiking/Picnicking
Individual picnic areas are scattered across the campground and provide ample seating for large parties. All areas are equipped with BBQ pits, and most have a playground within a few feet of the site. Hiking trails are numerous, with both mild and rigorous paths. Adventuring along the trails is the perfect chance to meet some of Lopez’ wildlife, and the secluded setting makes these hikes a great chance for a relaxing and peaceful getaway.

Mustang Water Slides
The water park is located in the heart of Lopez Lake, and offers loads of fun for all ages. The park features two 600-foot curving water slides, a “Stampede” inner tube ride that will drop adventurous patrons down a 38-foot drop, a kiddie pool with mini-slides, waterfall trees, and relaxing picnic areas. Lockers are provided for a small fee, and just around the corner is a food stall equipped with all-time favorite snacks.
