Two performers are engaging the audience at The Great American Melodrama in Oceano, CA.
One doesn’t have to be in love with theater to get a kick out of the melodrama. For 34 years these performers have been captivating the hearts of their audience, providing laughter and tasty nachos for all who come.
Set in the heart of Oceano along Highway 1, you can’t miss the building – or the crowd of people gathered on the nights these actors perform. The melodrama is widely cherished by not only residents of Oceano, but of the whole tri-county area, and rightly so.
Once assigned a cabaret, one only need sit back and wait for the show to start, or grab a bag of popcorn and a refreshing drink, before hilarity ensues. The actors are wonderfully entertaining and will have their audience in tears (of joy) in a matter of minutes. After the curtain call, actors get together for a last hoorah and perform a vaudeville revue, which usually parodies a number of popular movie titles at the time (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones).
And that’s not all the actors do. Before the show and during intermissions they serve as the bartenders and waitresses and ticket collectors and hosts. They literally do it all.
It’s great fun for the entire family. Children as well as adults will find their love of the theater at the melodrama, and will want to return again and again… and again.
