Oceano is home to one of the last accessable strips of dunes in California.
Every home is mere minutes from the glorious Oceano dunes. Located along Highway 1, Oceano is a small town of 7,260 residents. The city is just a few miles from its larger counterparts, Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach, but Oceano is not without a few specialties of its own.
Areas of Interest
- The Great American Melodrama is a hidden treasure among the singular strip that makes up the town of Oceano. Live plays are performed nightly, and usually take a comical approach at popular titles (Scary Poppins, Rip Van Winkle, and The Nerd were some of 2009’s earlier shows). Food and drink are offered and the audience is always encouraged to participate. Fun for the whole family.
- The Oceano Dunes account for the only state park in California where visitors are allowed to drive their vehicles on the beach. ATV and Hummer tours are offered near the beach, which give people the thrill of a lifetime while off-roading through the back end of the dunes.
